MLK first partnered with SportsChallenge in 2001 and have sent the majority of their starting line-up to the national Summer Academy each and every year. Many of the featured players were with us this past summer and the team is currently undefeated.
-SportsChallenge Directors Jeremy Edwards and Molly Hellerman presented a 90 minute workshop at the Up2Us international youth sports conference held at Georgetown University on October 22nd. SportsChallenge was recognized by the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) as one of 9 national finalists for the Honor the Game Award. Based out of Stanford University, PCA is a national youth sports organization with offices in San Francisco, Chicago, L.A., New York, Dallas, Houston, Sacramento, DC and Hawaii. -Congratulations to Adrienne Shibles for earning the 2009 NESCAC and WBCA Regional Coach of the Year Awards! Shibles led her Bowdoin women's basketball team to a 24-5 record, the NESCAC crown, and the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Coach Shibles has been coaching with SportsChallenge since 2000. -Congratulations to Summer Academy graduates Jose D'Oleo and Ian Goldberg on earning Dianne Brennan Scholarships! Both Jose and Ian attended the SportsChallenge Summer Academy, Jose for two summers. Their hard work in the classroom and on the court earned them Diane Brennan scholarships. Jose and Ian came through SportsChallenge partner New Heights. Ian is in his first year at Haverford College while Jose is attending Susquehanna University. Click HERE to read more about these true student-athletes.
